Profile – Itumeleng Pooe

It is not by coincidence that Hospitality Affairs has been very successful in the business of curating experiences and creating lifetime memories for over 16 years. With the advantage of having Itumeleng Pooe, a seasoned travel industry expert at the helm as Chief Executive Officer, the company is anticipated to grow from strength to strength, especially in coming up with new travel ideas and within Southern Africa

Itumeleng ‘s career in the travel industry spans more than 26 years beginning with 10 years spent at South African Tourism, where she held the position of Marketing Manager for Asia and Oceania. She then became group marketing manager for a national tourism conglomerate – Thebe Tourism, a subsidiary of Thebe Investments, where she developed their well-recognised tourism brand.

Itumeleng then moved to become CEO of Franschhoek Wine Valley, where she used innovative marketing techniques and managed to grow Franschhoek’s profile, to become the recognised premier Cape Winelands destination. She was responsible for the launch of Franschoek Champagne Festival, which saw French Champagne Houses working side by side with the Methode Cap Classique producers from all over the Cape. She was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourist Association, a multi-sector organisation made up of 300 members including wineries, accommodation establishments, art galleries and restaurants.

She then took up a position with Cape Town Routes Unlimited – a tourism destination marketing agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape as Executive Manager, responsible for Emerging Markets (African, Asia & Middle East) before, in 2018 becoming the major shareholder and CEO of Hospitality Affairs Ltd.

Such an illustrious career straddling three sectors, no wonder she was awarded a Regional Business Achiever Award by the Businesswomen’s Association Western Cape in 2007. I looked up to check the name) Among her achievements was an award as one of the 2003 Unsung Heroes, in recognition of her contribution to tourism growth in the Western Cape.

With Itumeleng at the helm of Hospitality Affairs, their clientele can expect to receive nothing less than highly professional service and life-changing experiences.
